About Us

Our Philosophy

The compassion and love of animals, plus our belief in the positive effects of animal companionship, compelled us to create an organization that focuses on helping animals by working diligently with people. A Caring Place works to decrease animal suffering, lessen the number of homeless cats and dogs, and reduce animal euthanasia. With the goal of helping people live effectively in partnership with their companion animals, we work with current and potential companion animal guardians teaching proper and responsible animal care and providing advice for behavioral issues.

Because we do not have our own facility, most of our cats and kittens live in the Adoption Center at the Orland Hills PETsMART store, 9277 W. 159th (just east of LaGrange Rd./Mannheim Road), Orland Hills, IL. All of the dogs and some cats live in foster homes until permanently placed in new adoptive homes. We do not set time limits on our animals to make room for another, nor do we euthanize due to old age or costly health care.
